Future Computer Scientists and Engineers as Guests at DSA

From theory to practice: That was the main subject of a three-day practical workshop for students of different master programs in computer science and electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. On the topic "Software Engineering for Connected Vehicle Platforms" the aspiring engineers and computer scientists developed application modules for the communication with vehicle electronics.

The workshop is part of a cooperation with the RWTH Aachen University. Within the scope of his annual lecture, Dr. Ansgar Schleicher, managing director of DSA, teaches concepts of software and electronics for vehicles. The focus of the lecture is the development of a modern automotive electronics architecture, the life cycle of automotive electronics, communication with automotive electronics and the design of a Connected Vehicle.

During the practical workshop, students have the opportunity to implement the contents of the lecture into practice. Based on real automotive technology such as our VCG, combined with Arduino boards, students develop independent solutions for communication with automotive electronics as well as for the evaluation and visualization of vehicle data. At the end of the creative process, of course, the elaborated solutions are presented to a large audience.

The most important aspect of the event is of course that the participants receive a practice-oriented approach to software development for vehicles in a relaxed atmosphere. From the point of view of DSA, the workshops are an appealing format for students to supplement their teaching with practical knowledge and to enable students to have intensive contact with the company at an early stage.
