Student workshop at DSA: Theoretical knowledge put into practice

As in previous years, DSA welcomed students from RWTH Aachen University to an exciting practical workshop. The workshop had a modular structure, the students could attend the workshop for one and a half to three days, depending on the credits and certificates of achievement to be obtained.

The highlight of the workshop was once again the interactive communication with a real vehicle. It is always fascinating for the participants when horns or indicators are triggered by a mouse click on the computer. In reality, however, this is based on sound knowledge of communication with the vehicle. This involves the use and operation of the connectivity gateway, CAN bus communication, ODX data and SOVD. The theoretical knowledge for the exercises had been taught prior to the workshop in the lecture of our colleague and RWTH lecturer Dr Diana Fischer The Digital Lifecycle of Vehicles as a part of the Internet of Things (IoT). The workshop not only provided the rare and valuable opportunity to apply the theoretical content in practice. The students were also able to make contacts during the workshop and discover the DSA working world in order to find out about future career opportunities.
