KidsDay 2026: The Right Tone in Programming

The 23rd of April marked another KidsDay at DSA this year. This time, eight boys and girls traded their school desks for a spot at a PC to get a glimpse into the world of computer science at their parents’ workplace. For some, it was their first encounter with programming; others already had some experience. Since the tasks for DSA-KidsDay are designed and implemented newly each year by the trainees, there was something new for everyone to discover. Using the Sonic Pi programming environment, the children were able to create their own songs. With great curiosity and enthusiasm, they set about changing sounds and trying out various effects. This allowed them to experience playfully what a change in the program code does. The result literally went straight to the pupils' ears. Those who needed a break from programming used the DSA lawn for a soccer game, enjoyed the spring sunshine, or recharged their batteries with pizza and snacks.

KidsDay was once again a lot of fun for everyone involved and provided an exciting insight into the professional world at DSA. Perhaps in a few years, we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming some of them to our team.
