Kids@DSA: Play, fun and a spirit of curiosity

In the fourth week of the summer holidays, 16 children were off to work – at their parents’ workplaces, to be precise. The third DSA holiday camp, held under the theme ‘My World: Playing, Creating, Exploring, Discovering & Life Hacks’, offered five exciting days on the DSA grounds. Half of the 5- to 12-year-olds had already taken part last year, whilst the others were exploring Mum or Dad’s workplace up close for the first time.

There were plenty of opportunities to do crafts, play and explore, whether indoors or outdoors. One of the children’s favourite places was the shady spot under a big tree. From there, the sound of laughter as they played football, did gymnastics or relaxed could be heard all the way to the offices. Refreshments were also provided. With summery temperatures, everyone was particularly enjoying the ice cream. Their sense of curiosity was sparked by activities such as making their own ‘lava lamps’ and a visit to the Discovery Museum. On Wednesday, the children and the two caregivers went on a trip to Kerkrade in the Netherlands, where the world of AI, technology and robots left them in amazement.

The DSA holiday camp helps our colleagues with the often challenging task of organising childcare during the school breaks. As a result, everyone had a great week, full of new insights and wonderful experiences that will hopefully be remembered for a long time to come.
